missonExperiencing Israel: March 2016
By Chaplin Christine Graham

My journey to Israel was unique, inspirational and truly unforgettable. It seemed surreal that I placed my feet on the same places that Jesus walked. The names of towns, physical structures, bodies of water were particularly striking as the biblical accounts came to life. It appeared as if the Bible opened and allowed me to walk through it. My most gripping experience was entering that empty tomb. Yes,we shall rise! mission1

Baby Dedication
Sunday, March 6 2016, marked another important and exciting day for the proud parents brother and sister Benedict Dorvilier. Their proud bundle of joy, Skylar Dorvilier, was dedicated to the Lord. The dedication of a child is not an indication to say that the child is saved and baptized as some believe. Rather, it is to commit the life of the child into the hands of God and to seek his blessing and protection. “Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, tocome unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. And he laidhis hands on them…” (Matthew 19:13-15). This clearly demonstrates that Jesus intended for us to bring our children into his presence.

On March 6, 2016 we kicked off our annual mission’s month. We are grateful to our district churches that joined with us on March 31st, for the annual mission service. We are thankful to God for the way in which he has led our guest speaker,Evangelist Abraham Regis. Special thanks to Evangelist Regis, and all those who have contributed to make this missions month a success. We firmly believe that mission is a biblical mandate commissioned by Christ as recorded in (Matthew 28:19-20). As believers, we are responsible to bring the good news, the gospel to the lost. As Christian believers, we have a duty and a responsibility to help them understand that unless they surrender to Christ, they are in danger of hell.

Easter Rivival

This year our annual Easter Rivival was held on March 20th through March 27th. We were blessed to have Evangelist Abraham Regis, as our guest speaker. He is an International Evangelist, whom God is using not only to spread the gospel to the lost but also to bring revival toquicken the hearts of Christians regarding God’s promises. Focusing on the scriptures, Evangelist Regis, spoke about “Revival in our finances”and reminded the church how God brought restoration to the Shunammite woman in (2 Kings 8). He further made references to (Proverbs 13, Psalm 112) to show that God intended for his children to be blest. However it is our responsibility to live holy and righteous. Additionally, we are to seek the Lord andwalk in faith. We are truly grateful for the moving of the HolySpirit and how he has used his servant in our midst. We are forever grateful to Evangelist Regis as well as his family who gladly lent him to us. We continue to pray their strength in the Lord.

Baptism/Right Hand of Fellowship

It was an exciting and joyful Sunday on March 28, 2016, when we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ with water baptism. The resurrection of Christ signals a new beginning. What better way for these candidates to have celebrated the resurrection than to bury the old and rise in the new. While baptism does not wash away sin, it is a public testimony that the candidate being immersed has symbolically buried the old and has risen a new. “ Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: thatlike as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin” (Romans6:3-6). We are also thankful to God for the …new members who took right hand of fellowship into our church. As we celebrate andcongratulate, we continue to pray their strength in the Lord. It is our desire that they will grow and remain focus in the Lord.

Junior Talent

Congratulations to all the participants of the 2016 New York State Junior Talent competition which was held on April 22nd and 23rd at New Testament Temple Church of God, Bronx, NY. A big shout-out to all the participants from Church of god of New Rochelle, who won a number of trophies inthe various categories including first and second place finishes in team Bible Quizzing. Special thanks also to all the workerswho dedicated their time to work with our juniors. The Church of God believes in her young people and Junior Talent is a program that enables children (ages 7-12), to develop their God-given talents in the categories of Art, Bible, Creative Writing, Dramaand Music. The program culminates in an exciting statewide competition where the children represent their local churches in thevarious categories. The Junior Talent program is more than a competitive activity to determine who rates first and second; it is a ministry of love and guidance to Church of God children. Competition, however, is a vital factor in the program. Competition, coupled with love and guidance, is a strong force in challenging children to reach their full potential and to express themselves constructively for the glory of God. Let us continue to prayfor our children as they continue to use their talents to serveand glorify Christ! teen_talent
